They were demonstrating during the Viet Nam War. One
college kid demonstrator politely said to me, “You are out here (middle of a
downtown street) just to see us get arrested.” I was surprised by his accusation
because I took no delight from the situation. I should have responded, “I’ve been here for ten years, and will be here ten years from now. You
just got here.”
